RPD: Do not work with a man posing as a real estate agent who asks for Bitcoin deposits | Crime and courts

ROOT – Area residents looking for places to rent shouldn’t work with a man posing as a real estate agent asking people to convert money into Bitcoin.

According to a statement from the Racine Police Department, the man, identified as Jordan Scott, is a scammer posing as an agent for Renew Property Management Company who is asking for Bitcoin deposits.

According to the RPD, the genuine Renew leasing company “will NEVER use any type of wire transfer, cash app, or bitcoin for a down payment.”

Scott’s company, Jordan Scott Leasing, advertises online, including on Craigslist and Trulia, according to the RPD; there is no known photo of Scott and he does not meet potential clients in person.

If you have been scammed by Jordan Scott Leasing, RPD asks you to file a report online at rootp.prophoenix.com or call the dispatcher at 262-886-2300 to file a report.
