AdventHealth buys property in the Holy Land

ORLANDO, Florida – The Central Florida AdventHealth health care system has purchased the Holy Land Experience religious theme park in Orlando, the deed documents show.

In early 2020, the religious attraction announced massive layoffs as part of a restructuring as the experiment moved to its Bible museum, the Scriptorium, and religious figures who changed history. More than 120 positions have been cut, according to a Worker Adjustment Act notice and retraining notification sent to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

The Vineland and Conroy Roads attraction near the Millenia Shopping Center attracts hundreds of people each year for the park’s annual free entry day, allowing the organization to maintain its tax-exempt status. The attraction closed in March 2020 during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic but reopened briefly in April 2021 for two days of free admission.

According to the Special Guarantee Deed, Adventist Health System obtained the deed from the Holy Land Experience Ministries on August 2.

The healthcare chain did not disclose its plans for the property, but said in a statement details would be forthcoming.

“AdventHealth will make a significant investment in redeveloping the property to provide improved health services to the community. Details of our sitemaps will be released in the future, ”AdventHealth said in a statement. “Orlando continues to be one of the fastest growing regions in the country, and it is important that residents have access to health care that is close to home, convenient and comprehensive.”
